Dear Prospective Employer, I am Elenor P. Turingan, my family and friends used to
call me “Eleine”. I was born on May 08, 1982, 5’6 in height,
weighing 50 kg, with fair complexion and a long hair. I have
3 brothers and I’m the second child in my family. My eldest
brother have his own family now, my two youngest brothers
are still studying. My father is a government employee and
my mother is a plain housewife. I am presently working here
in Hong Kong as a domestic helper. I have to work abroad so
I can support my brothers’ school fees because my earnings
In Philippines is not enough for my brothers’ school fees,
also for my future and daily needs. I decided to leave my family for me to earn a higher salary, as well as to learn the culture of the other countries. It’s very hard for me to leave because it’s my first time to work far from my family, but I had to do it because I also want to help my parents to support my two brothers for their studies and also for my future. I am disciplined by my family who doesn’t tolerate any wrong doing. They teach us to be very responsible, respectful, and most especially an honest human being. As of now I’ve been working for ten months to my second Chinese employer with two kids, a girl and a boy ages 10 and 8. I share bedroom with them. They are the type of children who are smart, energetic, and well disciplined children. My employer is a Engineer, while his wife owned an employment agency, Anda Realtors Property Agency. They are the type of family who are athletic, active, and a happy family. Every weekend we go fishing together, having barbecue with some of their church friend, and playing badminton. The two kids are very good in swimming, and we also enjoy riding a bicycle in the park every afternoon. On weekdays I bring and pick them up from their school. I let them take a rest for at least 15 minutes while having their snacks and then I will ask them how’s school, after that I let them take a bath before starting to do their homework, they must finished their homework by 6:00pm, then have their dinner by 6:15 because their Chinese tutor will arrived at exactly 7:00pm. During my holiday, I have to attend the church in the morning, after that I stay at my boarding house and take a rest or I will do cross stitching. If my friends invite me for some outdoor activities, I’ll join their group, maybe we will have some barbecue, playing volleyball, badminton, and sometimes we also go to beach.
I’m very comfortable in the kitchen. I can cook some western foods like; Shepherd pie, quiche, crab cake, and salmon patties, rissole. I know I’m not that good in cooking, but I have a long way to go to be a good cook. I like spending my free time in outdoor activities, like riding bicycle, playing badminton, and volleyball. In the morning, I wake up by 6:30 to prepare breakfast
for my employer and the kids. I need to wake up the kids by
7:00 and have their breakfast. While having their breakfast,
I prepare their school uniform, shoes, snacks so that when
they finish eating they will just wear it, we have to go
down by 7:40 before their school bus arrive so that we don’t
get late. I also need to pick them up by 4:00pm; I have to
arrive exactly so that my employer will not get worry for
their kids. I was never been arrested, and I hate drinking
alcohol because it’s bad for the health.
