Dear Prospective Employer, My name is Vanessa Limcaco. I'm single, 28yrs old and a first born child in my family. I was born and raise in Manila. My father died when I was 3yrs old. My mother raised me and my youger sister by working as a helper here in HK. We were left in the care of my grandmother. Life wasn't so easy for us but we're lucky to be able to study. I took up Business Administration Major in Finance. I left one subject. I got a job offer here in HK and had to leave right away so I didn't get to finish my course. In HK I took up 6months training course (nursing aide course). Unfortunately, I didn't get to have a lot of hands-on training then, mostly classroom teachings. I don't have a lot of experience taking care of children nor elderly but I'm willing to learn. I'm independent and patient. I know how to take responsibility and I'm serious about this job. I just need someone who will give me a chance to prove my worth. I started working in HK for Chinese/Singaporean couple. No children. I stayed with them for 3yrs till they decided to go back to Singapore for good. My second employer is another Chinese couple. No children again but I take care of 2dogs. It's usual housekeeping job and cooking. Theyhad to let me go because of financial reasons. When I was working for a new employer, I was recommended to work part-time for a month to an Australian family with a 9yrs old girl who needs a special attention. She has a mind of a 2yr old. It was a real challenge to me aside from the fact that I have no experience at taking care of children, and then I have to take care of a child with medical condition.
I am presently working for a British family with 2 girls 11 & 8yrs old. This is my second contract with them. They are very good people and they treat me fairly. I do general household chores, cooking, laundry, ironing, babysitting and car cleaning. I don't know how to swim but when I get the chance I would like to learn. My cooking is not excellent but I think I'm getting better. I usually cook western dishes. I can also cook Chinese and some other Asian dishes. I'm lucky to be working with these people right now, but I can't see myself and my future improving. In HK people like me don't have a choice, so I'd like to try another place and try my luck. Canada offers a huge hope for me. I don't have relatives there, but lots of friends who encourage me to come and work there. I just hope someone out there will trust me with a chance to start a new life in a new environment and new people. I am more than willing to learn new things, new life, new challenges. I will do my best to meet your expectations. Thank you. Yours truly, Vanessa Limcaco
